Planning a baby shower when you know the sex of the baby is a ton of fun, as you can choose a distinct theme and make everything fit within that concept. Baby boys open up the possibilities for tons of themes, game ideas, color schemes and favors that everyone will love. Baby boy showers easily adapt to be a co-ed shower, so you can accommodate activities for both sexes. If you're having a boy or planning a shower for a boy, you'll want to choose a theme first so you can let your imagination run wild. - For a jungle think of Tarzan-type jungle fun: lots of silly animals, bright colors and a lively atmosphere. Decorate with fake trees and stuffed animals all over. Use animal print fabric or paper to cover the tables. Serve lots of fresh green vegetables and produce as well as usual snack foods but give everything an exotic name so it sounds like it's from the jungle. Make a swamp-like green punch and put dry ice around or in it to create a jungle-like setting. Play some games relating to animals such as a matching game where guests have to match the name of the animal to the name of its baby (e.g. kangaroo, joey). Or play a game where guests have to guess the gestation period for animals, and the person who gets the most correct wins.
- Have a sports themed shower. This can be all one sport or a variety of sports. Use baby and infant sporting items such as soft balls and toys as centerpieces. Play games related to sports, such as matching famous sports stars with the names of their kids or birthdates. Hand out miniature trophies for favors and award game winners with gift certificates to a sports good store or tickets to a sporting event. Serve baseball, basketball or football decorated cupcakes and cookies.
- Have an outdoors (fishing and hunting) themed shower. Hang fishing poles on the wall and string baby items such as onesies, socks and hats from the line. Cover the tables with netting and camoflague material. Fill baby bottles with goldfish crackers to hand out as favors. Use fishbowls as centerpieces filled with either real fish or baby fish toys. Instead of pin the tail on the donkey kind of games, try a shooting game. Play "shoot the diaper pins on the diaper." Use kids dart guns to have guests aim and shoot at a poster of a baby with a diaper on and try to get closest to the spots where the diaper pin should go.
- Have a racing themed shower. Decorate with black and white checkered tablecloths and napkins. Hang racing flags and signs around the room. Play a racing game that challenges guests to push a baby stroller and baby doll through an obstacle course as fast as they can without losing the doll. If the parents have a favorite race car driver, then get some racing gear customized with the baby's name (if known) and set it out as decor. Give guests a package of homemade toy car cookies as a favor.
- Have a John Deere tractors or farm theme shower. Use hay stacks as chairs and cook a barbecue meal. Have guests come in farm style clothing such as overalls, jeans and straw hats. Use stuffed animals and toy tractors as centerpieces. Play a farm relay game such as seeing what team can pass the baby balloon pig the fastest or make homemade baby food the quickest.
- Have a dinosaur theme shower. Use toy dinosaurs and stuffed dinosaurs as centerpieces. Make a volcano cake for dessert and, when you go to serve it, pour strawberry, cherry or raspberry sauce inside the hole so it spills over and looks like the volcano is erupting. Play a prehistoric game and have guests try to put together a set of dinosaur bones into a model; the person (or team) who completes it the fastest wins.
- Have a pirates themed shower. Decorate the place with pirate swords, do-rags, eye patches, treasure chests and more. Fill up baby bottles with chocolate gold coins to give away as favors. Have guests take part in a baby treasure hunt. Split them up into teams and have them scavenger around for a list of baby items such pacifiers, rattles and diapers hidden around the venue that they seek out according to a set of clues. The first team to find all the items wins.
