SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – Bryn Mawr started the annual Seven Sisters Championships on the right stroke as day one of competition comes to a close.

The Owls started the meet with a third place finish in the 200 Free Relay. The relay comprised of Meredith Davis, Kathy De La Hoz, Kelsey Power and Cea Weaver finished the race with a 1:46.13 behind Wellesley and Mount Holyoke.

The highlight of day one competition was a first place finish from Davis in the 50 free and 100 fly. Both victories are the first individual event win from an Owl in over five years.

Weaver finished the day with two second place finishes. Her time of 5:25.91 in the 500 free and 2:03.29 in the 200 free gave the Owls 34 team points. Zoe Guastella took home 6th place in the 200 IM as she touched-out in 2:21.68.

The 400 medley relay of Davis, De La Hoz, Guastella and Weaver finished in third place behind Wellesley and Smith.

At the end of day one, twelve-time defending champion Wellesley is in the driver’s seat to win an unprecedented 13th straight championship with 745 points. Smith College is in second place with 476 points while Mount Holyoke College (445), Vassar College (431) and Bryn Mawr College (341) round out the rankings.
