Picos Game



This March, Ameba launched Pico! English version of Pigg using Facebook as game platform. You can create your own Pico character, choose your clothes and decorate your home. TRAVEL Pico world with New York as the first featured destination and meet new friends (chat with them too!) or get a time machine (100 ameba gold) and TRAVEL back in time to Stone Age and watch the Volcano Erupt!

There are (3) currencies in this game: Gummies (free currency); Ameba gold (can only be purchased with real cash); and Tokens (5 Tokens would be gifted upon joining and you could get them by playing Gacha).

Most of the items in the shops are being sold for Ameba gold but don't worry if you don't have Ameba gold, you can still purchase gold items by using your Tokens, get more Tokens by playing Gacha (300 Gummies per play)...

Earn Gummies by:
  • Getting Pico Props (Pico is so much like Poupeegirl another Ameba game and the Props are like Sutekis/Like) from other Picos
  • Getting a "Ring" from other Picos (I didn't know what this was before but it turns out that when you visit other Picos you can ring the bell in their homes)
  • Daily Log in bonus
  • Getting Stars for your Star collection (a tutorial guide)

The projected image is designed to give “an immersive, 360-degree feel” and while the prototype in the following video doesn’t completely do this it does look like fun. Could this be the beginning of another push towards a virtual reality thats less virtual and more reality? Certainly it might help with obesity numbers and army recruitment if it takes off (or would it?) I can see this working in a situation such as a completely spherical room, but it may need alterations of the pico to work more as a short throw solution, if it were possible to encompass the FOV (field of view) of the gamer using it then it would be another big step to a truly virtual reality game. It also brings up questions of how gun-like should a toy/game really be, but then this can be said about a lot of things, ultimately if theres a market for it – it will probably be sold.
